Welcome to Atkinson Private Tuition, where we specialise in bespoke mathematics education for students from Early Years to GCSE. Our mission is to provide personalised, engaging, and effective tutoring that fosters a deep understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills.
Meet The Tutor
Shannen Drummond
Shannen Drummond is a qualified teacher with a Mathematics Specialism. She has over five years experience in the classroom as well as providing tuition from Early Years to GCSE.
She initially studied at The University of Liverpool where she received an undergraduate degree in Criminology (BA) before achieving her Postgraduate Diploma of Education- Primary Education with Mathematics Specialism (Qualified Teacher Status) through Liverpool John Moores University.
Shannen holds a fully up-to-date DBS Certificate.
Services
We offer bespoke 1:1 maths tuition tailored to each student's individual needs.
Sessions are £30 per hour long 1:1 lesson, and can be delivered in person or online.
Initial Consultation
We will discuss your child's academic goals and learning preferences.
This meeting lays the groundwork for a personalised tutoring plan tailored to your child's unique needs, ensuring a focused and effective learning experience.
Baseline Assessment
The aim of the baseline assessment is to identify your child's strengths and areas for improvement, providing a starting point for bespoke instruction that targets their specific needs.
Whether your child needs support with the basics or a stretch and challenge, finding their starting point is key to their success.
Weekly Tutoring Session
We begin each session by reviewing your child's homework and any areas of difficulty, followed by teaching new concepts that align with the national curriculum.
Interactive problem-solving and practice exercises are central to each session, ensuring your child understands the material and can apply it confidently.
Online Learning
We use Google Classroom to share homework with pupils, making learning even more accessible.
We also use online tools from CGP to facilitate learning within lessons, ensuring that the content of the tuition is always in line with the National Curriculum and exam boards for GCSE pupils.
